Just wanted to let everyone know that I have been offering free drum transcriptions available for download on my website for quite some time now! Every time I transcribe a song for a student to learn, I upload it to my website and make it available to download and print out as a PDF. Please check back regularly for updates! Inaugural YouTube Lesson Video!

I've finally gotten around to creating a YouTube channel for Rob Ferrell Drum Studio! It's been something I've wanted to do for quite some time. Now that my son has started first grade, I have a little more time while he's in school.

For the first installment, I've opted to talk about one of my favorite rudiment/conjunction licks. It's the 6 Stroke Roll with an extra RLL added to create a 9 note grouping. Using the original 6 Stroke Roll as one phrase and the 6 Stroke Roll plus RLL as another phrase, we can randomly mix and match the two phrases to create longer more music phrases!

Have fun practicing this one. Remember to start slowly on one surface (practice pad or snare drum) then you can experiment with orchestrating it around the drum set!

September Update!

Where did the summer go? I can't believe it is September already! Fall is my favorite season of the year and also one of my busiest teaching times. I opened up Friday and Saturday mornings and my Saturdays are already almost completely booked!

There are lots of big things cooking at Rob Ferrell Drum Studio but I'm not at liberty to share some of them until they are solidified. Be sure to keep checking back for updates regularly and feel free to contact me if you have any drum related questions!
